PROVINCIAL NOMINATION IMMIGRATION Some Canadian provinces have entered an agreement (Provincial Nomination Program) with the Federal Government of Canada. The Provincial Nomination Program allows them to play a more direct role in selecting immigrants who wish to settle in that province. Usually, the program target highly skilled immigrants for certain highly demanded professions or investors who wish to invest in that province to create jobs and improve local economy. In order for an alien to immigrate to such a provinces as a Provincial Nominee, the alien must first applies to the province where he or she wishes to settle. The province will consider the application based on their immigration needs and the applicant’s genuine intention to settle there. After
the alien has been nominated by a province, the alien needs to make a
separate application to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) for
permanent residence. A CIC officer will assess the application based on
Canadian immigration regulations. If
